As the climate continually changes, the loss of sea ice will provide an opportunity for more shipping routes to open in the Arctic. Although a positive factor in increasing business and trade, there are several negative elements to consider. Donella Meadow’s paper urges individuals to think critically about rapid growth. With an increase in shipping routes and a decrease in sea ice, the arctic would yield a plethora of problems with safety, the environment, and legal issues. It is necessary to consider all benefits, as well as consequences, when it comes to increasing the volume of oceanic traffic.
